There are vinyl recordings of Science & Health, 33 1/3 with Braille labels..also very old Sentinels from earlier days, Ex 1920s/30…Maybe older..Everything has been stored in a basement on a table so there is a bit of a musty odor to most items. A good airing out would probably fix the problem.

July 16, 2014

To: Christian Science Church Boards, Lecture Committee Chairpersons, ACOP’s, Care & Service, HRH, CS Associations, Annual Events Planners:

Christian Scientists in New York have been working on a new, locally run, “tool” to aid in coordinating upcoming Christian Science lectures and other events of interest to Christian Scientists and the public in 2014-15. It is called the “All-NY CS Lecture and Events PLANNING Calendar for 2014/2015 (July - June).” This does not take the place of the Lecture Schedule that The Mother Church has established, but is meant to aid in choosing potential dates for proposed lectures before they are contractually set and to make available information on other Christian Science events.

The motivation: If planners can see what is potentially being scheduled before they choose a specific date and speaker, it may be possible to avoid situations where there is a plethora of lectures/events in the same month, week, or even on the same day, or vice versa, where there is a dearth of lectures/events. This is a working calendar.

As always each church is free to set any date/speaker deemed appropriate for its lecture and community. Everything is flexible and no one is bound by listing a proposed event on the calendar.

This has nothing to do with any social media site, so those not interested in joining sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc., need not be concerned.

 How It Works:
  • Your church, lecture committee chairperson or events planner will need to open a free Google Account to access this planning calendar, if an account is not already in existence.
  • The calendar will not be Public, but may be accessed by invitation only.
  • It will show detailed information about lectures/events being planned including date, title, speaker’s name, time and venue location.
  • Use the Agenda tab to see an overall list of events. Viewing days, weeks, months is accomplished by utilizing the calendar’s forward arrows in the different calendar modes. Clicking on an event will bring up a pop-up screen.
  • Past events will remain on the calendar in order to better manage unintended repetition of lectures.
  • Posting of listings is intended to be flexible. If your potential date or any information changes before it is contractually finalized, you may submit a change and it will be posted. If you make no changes, the posting will remain.
  • Once your Google Account is open, all you need to access this new planning calendar is a request that it be shared with you.
  • Please email your email address, the church you are representing, and a request to access the calendar and you will be added to the “view only” list.
  • When ready to add proposed information, just email the details and I will post them for you.

Since the Lecture calendar year started July 1, 2014, the calendar already lists events through December of this year (obtained from TMC website).

If you have questions, please email me at I will try to offer meaningful responses, but many of you may be more knowledgeable than I. Please bear with me on this unfolding venture and feel free to offer ways to make it more useful.

Best to you,
